Overview

Warung Mak Poah stands as an authentic culinary gem nestled in the quiet neighborhood of Taman Kulai Besar, Johor Darul Ta'zim. This humble restaurant captures the essence of traditional Malaysian breakfast and lunch with dishes that resonate deeply with locals and curious food travelers alike.

The menu centers around beloved Malay staples like Lontong Basah and Mee Bandung, both of which are widely praised for their rich, comforting flavors that reflect genuine kampung-style cooking. The Roti Canai Sarang Burung and Roti Tampal Telor Banjir introduce a playful twist to familiar street food, serving as delightful complements to the noodles and rice dishes. Each plate is thoughtfully prepared, evoking nostalgia while delivering satisfying taste and texture.

Beyond the food, Warung Mak Poah offers an atmosphere that echoes the laid-back charm of a classic 'warung'—a casual spot where locals gather to enjoy simple, hearty meals. Its somewhat remote location between residential homes adds to the sense of discovery, making each visit feel like a secret shared with friends. The space itself is modest and unpretentious, aligning perfectly with the authentic flavors it serves.

This warung primarily caters to breakfast and lunch crowds, especially those exploring nearby Pulai Waterfall or embarking on early hikes around the area. Customers often highlight the well-balanced teh ice alongside their meals, which cuts through the richness with refreshing sweetness without overpowering the palate.

Reviewers consistently commend the quality and authenticity of the offerings, from the creamy lontong to the savory mee bandung. The atmosphere invites diners to slow down, enjoy the food, and soak in a slice of local life away from busier urban centers. Whether you are a local resident craving familiar tastes or a visitor seeking an unassuming dining spot with robust flavors, Warung Mak Poah delivers a memorable experience that celebrates Malaysian breakfast culture in its most genuine form.

Awesome local find tucked away in a quiet neighbourhood. Highly recommend to head here for breakfast/lunch during your Pulai Waterfall/Hike visit. Good things to try will be the lontong and bandung noodles. Teh ice is well made, not too sweet. Will come again!

Chanced upon this place during a Kulai weekend and turned out to be a place that I will 100% come back in future! Mee Bandung is the best I have ever tried, the soup is so flavorful with generous amount of small cuts veges. The texture of the chewiness of the noodles with the flavorful soups and chunks of beef, wrapping it up with the boiled egg that has soaked up in every bit of the goodness is crazy good. The roti kosong and curry was good and roti sarang burung was perfect, crispy on the outer layer with the half cooked eggs, drizzle some curry with sardines in it, I don’t know if this is not called a breakfast for a champion, what else will be.
